Good Friday
Is the day of torture and death
No matter how I try
I can’t see anything else
So many mother’s sons
Unjustly crucified
Hanged upon a tree
Humiliated publicly
While the true criminals went free
To dream their dreams?
Or ridden by nightmares?
To life guiltfree?
Or haunted mercilessly?
I know it’s supposed to be
Good Friday for you and me
But a lot is left out
Of this story…
Go down to street view
And what do you see
All of Jesus’s followers
Did not run and flee
Do you feel it down in your soul?
There’s more to be told?
Can we handle the truth?
What would we do if we knew?
The entire story
Of how Christ came to glory
Why we’re given half his story
Yet expected to celebrate
This and every Good Friday
I pray that every wrong is put right
I pray for the whole truth tonight
I pray all liars are seen through
I pray for love and true freedom
For me and for you.
What if Jesus didn’t die?
What if Jesus is still alive?
What if He’s been ruling all this time?
What if His Kingdom is now?
What if this IS paradise?
Him dying was the lie?
Would this and every day be a Great Friday?
“The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
Numbers 6:22-26
The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
