Tiny Pretty Things…

Tiny Pretty Things is an American drama streaming television series based on the novel of the same name by Sona Charaipotra and Dhonielle Clayton, created by Michael MacLennan. It premiered on Netflix on December 14, 2020, and has aired for one season.[1][2]

The series revolves around the goings on at a ballet school in Chicago, and focuses on the school’s students, instructors, administrators, and benefactors. The dancing in the show is performed by the actors themselves, not doubles.[3]

Critical reaction to the series has been mixed. No official announcement has been made of its fate since then, although it is conjectured that it will not be continued. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiny_Pretty_Things)

I am watching it now and it makes me feel melancholy. It’s like high school but the subject is ballet. They never have other courses, it’s just ballet and dance all day. I don’t know why this show only had one season but… what I did notice is there are a lot of shows where there are characters named Cassie.

Cassie, Cassie, Cassie…

Cassie surely could have been cast in this show… did she ever dance ballet?

Meanwhile… the prima ballerina is:

Kylie Jefferson as Neveah Stroyer, a dancer from Inglewood, California, who is given a full scholarship at the Archer School of Ballet after a student falls from a rooftop and into a coma

I am still watching Tiny Little Things and OMGGGGG!!!! This show is like @Fame without The Genius of Ms. Debbie Allen… There is no #LeRoy either… but the competition is just something I despise. I think that the talent should be celebrated, supported, and not challenged. Am I wrong? Why should talent be challenged by smaller, damaged, and corrupted things?? Because it makes for tension and drama right? OMG. It is so crazy – You must watch this series. I don’t know why they did not go further but wow…

The scene with Costa and the little drugged lame dancer with the bum foot – Egads!!! I shudder with disgust as I clutch my invisible pralines sipping sweet tea with lemon. Ya’ll there is a dancer with anorexia who is a guy. Oh, yes, he is also bisexual and a darn fine dancer.

Yet the most intriguing thing to me is that it’s the finale of Dallas – “Who shot JR?” that begins the whole sha bang a bang!! For real.

Who is Kylie Jefferson? I am glad you asked…

She is a real dancer:

Kylie Jefferson is a contemporary ballet dancer, actress and choreographer born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Kylie began dancing at the tender age of four; by age six she was the youngest student accepted at the academy level to the prestigious Debbie Allen Dance Academy (DADA) in Culver City, California. Under the tutelage of acclaimed dancer, choreographer, actress, producer and director Debbie Allen, Kylie’s love for the performing arts grew to the international stage including the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and in the country of Oman under Ms. Allen’s guidance.

Kylie’s love for the arts flourished and soon danced and acted her way into numerous commercials and films in her youth. As her passion for ballet grew and she would come to split her preteen summers between DADA and Washington D.C.’s Kirov Academy of Ballet. Jefferson graduated from Boston Conservatory in 2016 with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts degree in contemporary dance.

Kylie choreographed her first music video for ScHoolboy Q’s “CHopstix” featuring Travis Scott for which she received a Universal Dance Awards nomination in the category of Favorite Music Video Performance. Kylie keeps busy with mentoring young dancers, live performances, and dance appearances on 2020 GRAMMYS Awards, The Late Late Show with James Cordon (CBS), and NAACP Image Awards.

In 2019, Kylie Jefferson began starring as “Neveah” in the upcoming ballet drama series “Tiny Pretty Things” based off the self-titled book by authors Sona Charaipotra and Dhonielle Clayton set to air on Netflix in 2020.

==========

“And again, we are in the midst of another conflagration…” Mrs. Whitlaw says as she walks into the Director’s office.

Sigh… this show is just something else!!! One minute, I am nostalgic about being young the next episode, I am thanking ELOHIM I am not young any more!!! Now, that is great writing. Tiny, Pretty, Things morphs Monday night into Saturday night! Tiny, Pretty, Things is magical!!! Great job everyone, but especially….Wait, a minute… Did Costa just throw a ball and break a wall mirror? Ain’t that 7 years of bad luck?

I just don’t understand why some of us WANT to suffer? I second guessed myself when LEAVING an abusive environment. I don’t any longer however. I have come a long, long way from high school.

So many of us hate to review the past…I think that if you can’t move forward but just hold where you are DO NOT LOOK “BACK”. However, when you have momentum and you are SAFE then it’s okay to recall all you have survived and surpassed.
