Just One

I spoke to the Lord this morning

After He woke me up

I told Him I don’t understand

I don’t know what’s up

Cornell West makes no sense

Charles Hess is doom and gloom

Earth will never end

Not never nor soon

I asked My God why we are here

And He said, “Just One”

There is one who is near to me

Who is my every dream

Who is smiles and giggles

Loves and believes

Does not hurt others

Does not hurt themselves

Believes in peace and harmony

Has faith in themselves

Just One in this whole world

Was made to be a gift

One great big puppy

For a beloved child

On this puppy’s tail

A couple of fleas do live

“Why destroy this puppy for a couple of fleas?”

In my mind, my oil was filled

And I believe

I sent a hug to The One

And gave His cheek a kiss

For there was never a Beloved Son

More adored than This.

Then I bought his puppy some treats and brushed him through

Now he’s sleeping safe and sound

While fleas do as they do.
