The 1960’s
A time of change
A time of revolution
A time of correction
A time for resolution
But it didn’t happen.
Men sought sanctuary in churches.
Many fled across every border.
Many went to military prisons.

Twenty years of war
Vietnam
Laos
Cambodia
Back home, boycotts
Tyrrell’s Boycott
Organized Disobedience
All those post WWII children
WANTED their own war?
The best of America male genetics
Gone – Genocide
No one talks about it
Everybody lies
Born during Vietnam
Momma said nothing of it
Jim Crow’s fight for life
Daddy never discussed it
I lost my sister in Vietnam
She went to Radicalia
And never came back
My sister was beautiful
Smart and kind
She was a whole person
Less human more divine
I miss her all the time
Most of us are still here
Doing fine
We know we can’t get high
Cause Vietnam
We remember the ones who died
In Vietnam
Uncle Chester
Uncle Bernard
All death is truly hard
Uncle Harvey
Went to Germany
And brought back Jehovah’s Witnesses
All of us caught up in mess
Born during Vietnam
Trying not to cause harm
Grandmommy saw it all
Born during WWI
Twenty years out of slavery
No medals for her bravery
No movie or biography
I am her grandchild
Raised unholy and wild
Mom hoping we would die
God kept us alive
Even though we were born during Vietnam
It wasn’t hard for God
Denying the lies
Living the life
Doing what’s right
Showing love
Looking above
While God sees the Love
The babies of Vietnam
Tough times to come
Nothing has been fun
But God overcomes
Even Vietnam
Became the Civil War II
I didn’t understand it
Did you?
Can a sane person ever understand insanity?
Nothing is too hard for God.
We are still at war.
