Once upon a time Danny

A long time ago

Danny offered me something

I just could not say NO

It was a fine house

With all the trimmings

It was a chance for me

Like New Beginnings

I loved this house

…But the neighbors

Were awful people

Real true haters

They broke out windows

They tagged my sidewalk

They burgled my backyard

They shoved debris in my frontdoor

They exposed my kitchen

And threw dung all over the roof

And exterior of my house

They blockaded my house

So no friends could visit

So no family could visit

But the house stood anyway…

Brick houses ALWAYS do

The house of Danny where he let me stay

I told him I would pay all the bills

At these words, Danny lit up

He was totally thrilled!

This is the house of Danny

The house where I live

I have cared for it

Everyday, I tend to it

I pay all the bills

I make the repairs

Even with the damage on the left side of the stairs

I have some repairmen and maintenance men too

They have destroyed stuff and stole things too

I have some contractors and none of them I trust

They care about money, they do NOT give a damn about us

The home owners

The home caretakers

The home itself

Where we eat, sleep, cry, laugh and dream

Where we reside until the next thing

I want to take a flight and stay a bit out of town

In a nice hotel way above ground

Someplace I can sit and just be still

Go to a resort, I think I will…

Danny and I are the best of friends

In his house is hard but I have made some ends

Keeping house is work

It is not a joke

The maintenance never ends

No joke it is

Friends and family will steal

Out of your house

Neighbors will destroy things

Even your spouse

The main thing I have learned

From the House of Danny

Is maintenance is far better than repairs

Especially to your spouse!

The house of Danny is all around me

The house of Danny is what everyone can see

I am in here, piddling around

Lounging, reading a book

Or at the windows looking down

Down on you looking up at me

Do I see what you are doing?

Yes, I see…

But I turn my head periodically

Because I hate to see

You toil so for all your misdeeds

That IS why I have a staff

Who bring me the news to me

That IS why I have barriers

Between you and me

Fences, locks and security

Gates, guards and moats too

The River Styx you will not get through

Because I am afraid

Of all the dirt you do

You shock and disturb me

By the acts you do

I look in your heart to see the truth

It saddens me and it makes me grieve

The horrors that you do, I can not believe

But what has been done

Can not be undone

Every yin has a yang

My daughters and sons

Suffer gracefully

Live humbly

Maintain each day

Never lose your heart or your faith

Here what I say

For if you are stubborn

And set in YOUR way

You choose in addiction

And despair to play…

When the robbers come to take you away

It is notated and reported

As I sit on my bidet

If you won’t listen

And take care of YOUR house

What more intellect can I say?

To Danny, I am grateful

I thank HIM each and every day!
