This Week at the Inn

This week at the Inn I am getting my feet wet finally working the 2 pm to 10 pm shift without having to also cover the 6 am to 2 pm shift. I am tired because I just began a new workout routine so my energy is less than last month.

Some of the long term residents must have sensed this because now all of the stay at home husbands – read losers – are trying to give me their numbers to get to know me better – Hello?! I have your financial information, I KNOW your wife is the one who is the achiever and now I know you don’t have a loyal bone in your body!

What are they thinking?

We have this one lady who swears that there is a poltergeist in the walls of her studio… I just listen patiently and never say a thing as she goes to work every day and is not violent. I make a note for the general manager and keep it moving so I can get back to updating my myspace.com/lovewhatyouneed page. You know, keeping busy…

I fell into this job and although I was warned, I still find the position really interesting… you can’t judge a book by it’s cover and people are not what they seem to be…

I didn’t have to dial 9-1-1 for any reason this week, but I am told that I will since many of the residents check in sane and then gradually lose their minds… it’s the 42 shades of gray in Seattle, Washington. We have a high drug use rate and a high suicide rate. Who knew that addicts were not happy?

I have never used drugs or been a party person so this is very eye opening for me. I was raised in a very conservative manner to “keep me humble” so I have a different perspective than most of the natives of Seattle who are very liberal, love to party and are not the most attractive group of people. On top of that the weather is lousy most of the year and mental illness is rampant.

Sounds fabulous doesn’t it? Well, it will be interesting, so stay posted…
