Friendship is a concept that is out of style for most people. However, there are still a remnant of people who are generous and caring without considering dividends for themselves.

It isn’t rare either. I am so grateful for my friends though a small number, they are dependable and reliable just like me. We are friends because we value the same things like; honesty, integrity, peace, happiness and stand by each other when there are illness or tragedy in each other’s family.

I have friends that have known me before I became who I am today. They are a part of my fondest childhood memories and they are a part of my life today because we decided a long, long time ago to be there – that we were worth it – our friendship was worth it. We stuck it out through the lean years, the hungry years, the pain and the joy and more pain. We reminded each other where the boundaries were and fought the demons and monsters together – back to back and face to face.

There was a lot of laughter and a lot of shouting and recognition of each other in hugs, and tears… and laughter.

Marriages, divorces, births and deaths now and as brown and black hair becomes clear we are rediscovering who we used to be and who we are becoming as we dance together, laugh together and share fears, hopes and dreams as we have for decades through truth and respect and with love.
