Never Let Go
(Regal Theaters – Pavilions) I went to see this movie today and the cinematography was absolutely awesome. Do I think this movie is for everyone? No
The setting: The woods where the movie was set is definitely old growth with lots of tree moss. I think the forest was mostly green screen because there was no spontaneous lifeforms. What do I mean by that? Well, there was a river, there were frogs however the family was starving to death and contemplating killing the pet dog but they didn’t catch one fish. Here is another example the mother went out hunting and she spied a bird. What kind of bird? The kind you NEVER kill and eat, a crow. With all of the rituals she knew, she didn’t know that? Unbelievable.

The critics love this movie. Do you know why? It’s a true story in my opinion. All of the frames in this movie is telling the real story of someone the insiders know. This is their story. Someone put the images and imagery in this movie to give life to what happened to someone the insiders know well. The person, I am sure co-signed this movie. Even all of the morbid, grotesque imagery. Let’s go further, she had a bow and arrow that you line up and shoot with a trigger. A trigger. It’s called a crossbow. She did not use the arrow that Indians would use, oh no, it was the new style, yet she was alone in the world with her two boys. Where did that bow and arrow come from? There is no flashback here showing how she acquired this weapon nor how she learned to use it so well. Sigh.
The monster is her mother. A phantom evil that shapeshifter Skinwalker and wendigo.
Anyway, I am going to see it again. No one wants to see Halle Berry and black children like this. It’s so negative. But maybe Hollywood is trying to get people accustomed to seeing Black Americans living like this and not all blinged out right? Anyway, the movie is a flop at the box office.

There was an eerily crazy tone to the movie for sure. I don’t know what I am supposed to think really so much was missing. Why did Halle take on this role?? Why?? What was the point??
Please let me know your thoughts in the comments below. Thanks!
