As 2023’s sands of time run out, I am remembering Denise Matthews… Why? Honestly, I don’t know… All I know is I have had some “different” days this week as Christmas creeps stealthily closer and closer. A friend of mine wants to go to the movie to see the story about the Osage Indians of Oklahoma. It’s almost 4 hours long…sigh. I can NOT. I know of the story but a four hour movie is too much. I will wait for it to come on Netflix.
Why am I remembering Denise Matthews? I don’t know, except she had a tough growing up like so many. Being a child has always been difficult. Many times most children do not survive childhood. Denise Matthews was a survivor just as you are if you are reading my words right now. Congratulations! You have beat the odds! Well Done!!
Now, here is the other thing about Denise Matthews: She grew into a beautiful teenager. What’s wrong with that? Nothing, except she was neglected by her mother and disrespected by her father until he passed away. There were no hugs for Denise. There were no father laughing at the sayings of his little princess. She was not the apple of anyone’s eyes. Never.
She did get attention but it was always the negative and toxic sort. There were actually others who envied her beauty and despised her for it. There were others who saw her as an object. Something to collect but not a real human with feelings, thoughts and visions for her own life.
“Peter, Peter pumpkin eater, had a wife but couldn’t keep her. He put her in a pumpkin shell. And there he kept her very well.”
“Jack Sprat could eat no fat.
His wife could eat no lean.
And so between them both, you see,
They licked the platter clean
Jack ate all the lean,
Joan ate all the fat.
The bone they picked it clean,
Then gave it to the cat.”
Yes, Denise Matthews had relationship issues although she was very beautiful and spiritual. She did learn divination and practiced it as a child. If you know who taught her this craft please leave it down in the comments below…
Anyway, if this is causing you issues and likely night terrors I apologize in advance.
Somehow, Denise Matthews met Rick James and while out an event together they bumped into Prince. Denise Matthews left with Prince and her life became a litany of unfortunate events including disrespect, drugs, and degradation. When Purple Rain was in production, Prince planned to pay her $5,000 to be in his film. Denise Matthews was offered $350,000 to star in The Last Dragon with Berry Gordy. Prince was not fair to anyone, even himself. Even after she broke up with Prince she dated other toxic men. Sadly.
You likely know the story from this part.
The Lesson: When you are beautiful or not, stay true to yourself, don’t live a lie and most of all do NOT drink liquor or use drugs. Don’t smoke, don’t chew and don’t align yourself with people who do.
Rest in Peace Denise Matthews.
P.S. There is a story of Denise Matthews was caught levitating by her assistant once too…did you hear about that?

After all that I have read about her, I think she suffered some trauma when she was young and gullible. I think she remained that way all of her life. She never dealt with that trauma so she remained the age she was BEFORE the “horrible awful” happened to her. I pray that you, me, and everyone seeks the help and healing they need to reconcile all “horrible awful” events that have happened and the ones to come. Selah.
We all go through situations… With grace and mercy we will learn from them and keep moving on in our lives. Each Monday, I have new content on my YouTube Channel.
