Sigh: Poem By Coletha Albert

Sigh…I could feel totally alone in this big, wide world…

The agencies that are supposed to support good citizens just aren’t anymore…

Families that are supposed to love and support you don’t anymore…

Everyone is afraid of everyone else…

Everyone is suspicious of everyone else…

Everyone is as devious a anyone else…

Sigh…You know…

This is when you must dig deep and rise to the occasion…

This is when you apply Proverbs without hesitation…

Stay flexible yet maintaining…

Your dignity and standards high…

Sigh…

You know what I am doing?

I am breathing.

I am getting a massage.

I am deep conditioning my hair.

I am getting a facial.

I am doing jumping jacks.

I am doing deep knee bends.

I am not counting my chickens before they hatch.

I am not accepting any wooden nickels.

I am not buying a pig in a poke.

I am listening twice as much as I speak.

I am watching twice as much as I speak.

I am watching what people, places, and things are doing.

I am learning something new everyday.

I am making time for day dreaming.

I am whistling while I work.

I am singing in my sleep.

I am looking people in their eyes.

I am remembering every minute to be kind.

I have placed my good seeds into the ground.

I am β€œwalking” my fields to see which ones are sprouting.

Those I water and fertilize and keep the weeds away.

No matter rain or shine I call every day a “Great Day” Sigh.

March 4th is Best for…

What have you done today? Whatever you do stay grateful and modest.

I love him because he brings peace, kindness, order, dignity, strength, power, and safety to my life. He doesn’t try to trap me. He never demeans me. He knows who I am and what I have been through and loves me anyway. He allows me to know him and all of his mistakes and flaws. I love and accept him anyway. Now that we are together we are a complete human being. We keep each other clean and shiny.
