Are you seeking a more fulfilling role right now? Please do your research. I have seen bartenders in Napa, California weeping regarding the toxic environments currently at some companies.
Please know that if the hiring process is frustrating, oppressive, requires hours and hours to complete that is your heads up that you should stop what you are doing and get out of that candidate pool.
There are companies right now whose entire purpose is to hire the “worst” candidates. Why?
During lean economic times you hire candidates that you can grind to a pulp for little to no compensation. You want to hire candidates who are desperate, and depraved. You want to hire candidates that you can maximize profits with yet pay them vapors in return. Lastly, you want candidates, upon rebounding of the economy, you can lay off “at will” and they have little energy to respond in any way.
This torturous time right now in the job market is painfully real. It’s happening in blue collar to white collar. There has been an increase in physicians simply retiring rather than participate in this “bloodbath”. Many are going off-grid and living off the land for the foreseeable future.
This is a correction in our economy right now. This is a sifting out of the questionable in business right now. There are many. Only companies that actually produce authentic goods and services will “make the cut”. Those that have been existing off a “wing and a prayer” will have to shutter their doors. As the company runs out of steam it will try to siphon off as much blood, sweat, and tears as it can from current and on-boarding employees.
Pay attention and do not get caught in this trap. The signs are there for you to see. If you find yourself filling out an application that is taking hours to complete – STOP. GO NO FURTHER.
Some ideas:
- Find an elderly relative who needs a caretaker and do that.
- Move back home with relatives who love you and go back to school right now.
- Focus on cybersecurity jobs that will pay you while they train you.
- If your marriage is on the rocks, fix it, and stay married.
- If you are in a job that respects you and is still operating in “the BLACK” stay there.
