I Guess That’s Why They Call It the Blues
Don’t wish it away
Don’t look at it like it’s forever
Between you and me
I could honestly say
That things can only get better
And while I’m away
Dust out the demons inside
And it won’t be long
Before you and me run
To the place in our hearts
Where we hide
And I guess that’s why they call it the blues
Time on my hands
Could be time spent with you
Laughing like children
Living like lovers
Rolling like thunder
Under the covers
And I guess that’s why they call it the blues
Just stare into space
Picture my face in your hands
Live for each second
Without hesitation
And never forget I’m your man
Wait on me girl
Cry in the night if it helps
But more than ever
I simply love you
More than I love life itself
And I guess that’s why they call it the blues
Time on my hands
Could be time spent with you
Laughing like children
Living like lovers
Rolling like thunder
Under the covers
And I guess that’s why they call it the blues
Wait on me girl
Cry in the night if it helps
But more than ever
I simply love you
More than I love life itself
And I guess that’s why they call it the blues
Time on my hands
Could be time spent with you
Laughing like children
Living like lovers
Rolling like thunder
Under the covers
And I guess that’s why they call it the blues
Laughing like children
Living like lovers
And I guess that’s why they call it the blues
Laughing like children
Living like lovers
And I guess that’s why they call it the blues
And I guess that’s why they call it the blues

For a lot of people things are just not great. My question is: “Compared to what?” It reminds me of freshman year at college. There were so many of us in Houston. We really wanted be win at being adults. We had all dreamed of what it would be like, especially because we felt that so many adults we knew were really failing at it. We didn’t see the adults around us as people. We didn’t think about them as human. Why?
Mostly because the one who draws that portrait of your parents in your mind is your grandparents. They remember moments and times when your parents were your age…those who didn’t have grandparents can never relate to their parents. Those who had grandparents who were the strong, silent type like many southerners were expected to honor their parents without there being “relationship”. You found out that your parents were human beings over their dead bodies at their funerals and wakes as God intended.
I guess that’s why they call it the blues. That’s what’s incorrect about many states, counties, countries, municipalities – they can’t relate to others, because they don’t know themselves. What we are taught in school is lacking humanity. What we do in trying to build friendships personally is based on an organization, whether it’s the Masons or what school we attend.
I guess that’s why they call it the blues.
I know somewhere here in this dimension, at this very moment the opposite is also true. Even in the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve did not want to be “seen” by each other or by God. They didn’t know they were naked. How could they NOT know… or something about being naked and seen by God made them hide. Then Jesus Christ says, “I never knew you.”
There are those among us even now who are naked before God without shame. There are those among us who do not hide any part of themselves.
There are those among us who do not cloak themselves in secrecy.
There are those among us somewhere who do not chant and dance under the moon.
There are those among us here and there who refuse the mantle of masks, smoke, and mirrors.
There are those among us who are “naked” everyday, and relish their own imperfections.
They know who they are and they are not ashamed. They have no secret handshakes, gestures, or meeting places.
Meanwhile, so many others spend all their lives hiding from God walking in this garden because they think they can hide their “nakedness” from Him.
I guess that’s why they call it the blues.

Do you think that’s the reason why so many people self medicate? Is it because they can’t face their own “nakedness” nor the “nakedness” of others? Especially those whose “nakedness” is beautifully organic and superior? Look at our captains of industry. Now picture them in their “nakedness”… all those designers cloths, perfumes, pills, injections, and potions… so much to disguise their nakedness…
Do you see? Can you bear to see King Charles and Camilla Shand buck naked? Can you imagine Elon Musk naked? Now picture Donald Trump naked before you even without his toupee… your teachers, your friends, your enemies… without their cover ups and disguises what are they? What about you? Can you stand in this garden in your nakedness completely before your loved ones and God?
There you have it… that’s the full story for those who hide. Their nakedness is unacceptable to them and your nakedness fills them with envy and hatred. I guess that’s why they call it the blues.
My wife was afraid of the dark… then she saw me naked and now she’s afraid of the light.
