I know today is supposed to be about Moms…but I have to tell you what I learned from my children. Yes, that’s right I learned my most important lessons from my children:
- No matter what you do or don’t do your children will choose their own path even if it’s behind your back.
I thought I could rely on the Bible, “Train up a child in the way they should go and even when they grow old they will not depart from it.”

I think the writer of this verse was speaking aloud his own hope. When I was young and still in high school, I trying thought life was mathematical. I have since learn it is tyrannical. Life is full of tough lessons and there is always exemptions to the rule. What are the exemptions? Witches spinning spells against you. Your sisters raping your sons. Your family lying on you to your children and your children believing them. Which leads me to the other lesson my children taught me:
2. If they should die before you – you can live a much better life without them.
Yes, that’s right! Who knew? From an early age my children were weird towards me. It’s like they needed me to mistreat them, not love them, let others abuse them, and abandon them. It doesn’t matter. You can never go back to the past. You must keep moving forward doing the best you can…then no matter how it turns out you will have peace of mind. Do the right thing so you will have a clear conscious.

Yes, I have learned that being a mother is a crap shoot. I had no idea of all the evil in the world that is working against Mothers. A lot of the enemies against Moms are other Moms. If it wasn’t “for the Lord on my side, tell me where would I be? Where would I be?” https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%20124&version=KJV
“You will lose many things in this life. Don’t ever lose your faith.” – Shelter/6 Souls
Children
Sometimes children make you a Mom to bless you
Sometimes children make you a Mom to test you
Sometimes children make you a Mom to make you stronger
Sometimes children make you a Mom to teach you about yourself
Sometimes children make you a Mom to destroy you
Just know: You survived labor and delivery as a Black American Woman – You can do anything knowing you reap what you sow
Yet, if you can endure – you will emerge confident of your abilities as you stand flat footed to face whatever comes next on your journey.
Last lesson your children will teach you: When your blessings are coming forth; take a breath, bear down, and push!! There will be more challenges as the work to bring forth your blessing is the BEGINNING of your saga…
Keep praying knowing your prayers may not be answered.
Elohim does see, hear, and know. They know your heart. They know the truth. They know it was important for you to be a Mom this time. If you are alone today – Rejoice! If you are with friends and family – Rejoice!
However you find yourself right now – Rejoice in it! Sufficient for each day is the trouble therein. Selah.
