Love Madea

You know all the evil things I did

I gave birth to five kids

Not one of them loved me

Not one of them questioned me

Sure, I bullied them

Sure, I abused them

They all caved into me

None of them stood up to me

None of them loved me enough to demand I do right

Then I turned to God

Because my grandchild stood up to me

My granddaughter demanded better of me

My granddaughter really loved me

And then the Gulf of Mexico swallowed me

Then I was with my son who loved my granddaughter

Because he loved her

He became a true son to me

For all these years he has been with me

Then my other son joined me

My Mother joined me

Then over 30 great-grandchildren joined me

From one granddaughter if you can believe

So many souls all around me

Keeping me where I need to be

Protecting me, helping me

Loving me on this side

The very thing I needed

When I was alive

My granddaughter planted a grove of trees for me

Her son is here with me

My great-grandson is here with me

She still loves me

It’s hard to believe

She has taught me

How to love too finally.

I love you forever and I bless you,

Madea
