Jadais Richard, a three-star safety who played at West Monroe in Louisiana, committed to Vanderbilt on Tuesday.
Richard had a number of other Power Five offers, including from Louisville, Baylor and Indiana.
Richard, once committed to TCU, decommitted when the Horned Frogs and longtime coach Gary Patterson parted ways during the season.
He had 80 total and 65 solo tackles, one quarterback hurry, one interception, two pass breakups, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a blocked field goal this season.
Richard, who plays three sports in high school with football, basketball and track, noted his commitment in an Instagram post with the caption “switched up & chose the best route.”
With the commitment, Vanderbilt’s 2022 class is 11th in the SEC, ahead of Auburn, Ole Miss and Florida.
Richard is the third safety to commit after Steven Sannieniola and Jeffrey Ugo. He comes at a position of need for Vanderbilt after reserve Brendon Harris entered the transfer portal. Maxwell Worship has just one year of eligibility left if he opts to return for a fifth year.
