Baghdad, Iraq

Baghdad, Iraq, scorched me

inside and out until there is

nothing inside of me

Baghdad, Iraq left me

with nothing on the

outside of me

Baghdad, Iraq has destroyed

all that I was

is gone now

Baghdad, Iraq has left me

an empty shell

Baghdad, Iraq has left me

with stories to tell

Baghdad, Iraq has left me

with multiple dreams

Baghdad, Iraq has left me

through silent screams

And now I am weariness

And now I am sorrow

And now I am anxiety

But still hope for tomorrow

But still sensitive with ideals

Grateful for a today

Groping for a future.
