Thanksgiving Family

As she chopped the green onions for her potato salad she knew that tomorrow was going to be a disaster. There was going to be a fight. Dishes were going to be broken. Wine would stain her rug. Perfumes and jewelry would be stolen from her bedroom and supplies like soap, towels and toilet paper would come up terribly short after the hugs and “This was wonderful! Thank you.”

She would be relieved when it was all over even though the house would be in shambles. Everything missing and broken in the house could be fixed, or tossed out. This was a ritual for the family of tomorrow, the family of her dreams. THAT family was generous, kind, joyful, well mannered, talented, and healthy. In order to have THAT family she had to lay the foundation DESPITE this one.

This was her task to do. How did she know:

  1. She was the oldest girl child born in this generation.
  2. Her great grandmother and grandmother left her their homes as her inheritance.
  3. Her Mother taught her nothing about being a Matriarch.
  4. Her family was a gang of disrespectful vipers who were gregarious and selfish.
  5. All the other females in her family gossiped about her and made fun of her.
  6. No one in her family supported nor respected her.

This is how she knew. She had to be the one to set the example to start her family on the path of development in spirit as well as physical and mental health. How could she go on knowing what the reality of the present is? Her vision of who her family truly was.

Dear Reader,

How would you know it’s NOT for you to do? You have no vision of the family and your grandparents and great grandparents did NOT leave you their property. Additionally, if you are not the oldest girl…this is not your role. The stress will lead you to a dark place and cost you everything. You are tasked with supporting and respecting your older sister.
