Sacrifices Required Still

The Indian Child Welfare Act was signed into law following decades of U.S. policies aimed at forcibly assimilating Native children — including sending them to boarding schools.

Now, it’s facing its most significant challenge yet: Brackeen v. Haaland. The case could be taken up by the Supreme Court this term.

A Court Battle Over a Dallas Toddler Could Decide the Future of Native American Law…sigh…

The Associated Press reports the 1978 law has long been championed by Native American leaders as a means of preserving Native American families and culture. An Interior Department lawyer last year said in arguments that Congress passed the law after finding that adoption standards at the state level were breaking up American Indian families.

The second season of the podcast “This Land” follows Brackeen v. Haaland — and the impact of ICWA — as it moves through the courts.

Add this is another “group” that are lumped into the Civil Rights Act of the 1960’s – but the people who actually marched and went to jail and were lynched…they are passed over as too ignorant for reparations or the civil rights they marched for. Most of them are fed to the prison system – men, women, and children.

Meanwhile, other “groups” are given those civil rights yet our society is steadily imploding right before our eyes. Everyone who has family overseas are going back there… their educations and resources are going with them.

Ain’t it interesting…?

In the 1950’s many tribes were disbanded and relocated to the inner cities. Though civil-rights movements in the 1960s would eventually pressure the government to restore the recognition of dozens of tribes, the impact of earlier policies remained; the Bureau of Indian Affairs remains the legal steward of most tribal lands, making it extremely difficult for Native Americans to own property and build wealth in the way other Americans can.

Did someone say fetal alcohol syndrome?

Did I hear someone say medical experimentation was done to them just like it was done to Blacks and some Whites? Oh, yes, I know about that…those folks in Ohio, Northern New York State, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri and even Tennessee… i.e. poor Americans. Americans who are very beautiful, very intelligent, very resourceful, the best of this country are thrown away or sacrificed.
