Gerald and Evelyn

Gerald and Evelyn,

What a sin,

He was jealous of the skin,

Evelyn was in.

Evelyn’s trouble at school,

Gerald.

Evelyn’s nightmares,

Gerald.

Evelyn’s failed relationships,

Gerald.

Evelyn’s bad days and evil ways,

Gerald.

Gerald was supposed to be a best friend,

True blue through to the end!

But he haunts her and hurts her,

And nightly tortures her.

And Evelyn does nothing.

She needs Jesus Christ!

But she’s used to suffering.

She needs baptism!

But she accepts Hell.

She needs absolution!

But she can’t accept blame.

She needs deliverance!

But she enjoys the shame.

And Gerald is there,

Lurking on.

Riding her.

Never gone.

In death she’ll find her peace,

When she leaves the body at least…

Evelyn is 88 years old. She lives alone. Once upon a time she was a beautiful baby girl. She wasn’t the first baby. The first baby was a little boy named Gerald. Gerald passed away at six months. There is a belief that babies go to heaven and that is that. But is it?

Gerald didn’t go to baby heaven. His soul stuck around. Two years later Evelyn was born and Gerald hated her on sight. The envy, jealousy, hatred…it was real. Through the years Evelyn learned to obey Gerald and not cross him.

Evelyn married, had children, divorced and buried children all the while Gerald was there insuring her misery. Eight years after she buried her twins something changed in Evelyn… she decided that even if it cost her everything she would stand up to Gerald. All of her life she thought it was easier to just go along with whatever Gerald wanted.

She rebuked Gerald.

Step one, she went to church.

She rebuked Gerald.

Step two, she joined church.

She rebuked Gerald.

Step three, she went to new members class.

She rebuked Gerald.

Step four, she graduated from new members class.

She rebuked Gerald.

Step five, she became a baptismal candidate.

She rebuked Gerald.

Step six, she chose a ministry.

She rebuked Gerald.

Step seven, she was baptized.

She rebuked Gerald.

Step eight, she became friendly and gained friends. Whenever Gerald came around, Evelyn rebuked him. Yes, he was her older brother but he was mean, petty and out of line.

Last I heard from Evelyn, she was on the Viking World Cruise from the Caribbean to Venice! I am so happy for her! Aren’t you? At 88 years old, Evelyn changed her whole life! Isn’t it time to accept the truth of your life? What’s really “eating” you? Who’s really holding you back? Or are YOU Gerald? Let the truth stand up in these streets. It’s time.
